“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13
The Lord’s Prayer ends in a shout acknowledging God’s power and glory. This power was present over 2,000 years ago when Jesus was raised from the depths of darkness. It is a power still available to us today.
When we end a prayer with amen, we are saying “so be it” or that “it is true.” In teaching us this prayer Jesus made us his disciples; and as a result we are becoming the very holiness, obedience, and forgiveness for which we are asking.
Prayer: God of grace and glory, you are my God, my strength, and my redeemer. Empower me to live by your ways so that my life will be an example of your light, peace, and love. Amen.
Weekly devotionals will continue Sunday, December 3, 2017 for the Advent Season.
