There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
The cold, blustery weather event last week showed me the importance of the winter season—nature dies to itself and assumes a posture of rest. This winter period not only offers nature a time of pause and but also offers us the opportunity to experience the peacefulness of the season.
Winter is a quiet respite for plants and animals to gain strength for the coming of spring. Soon new growth will rise from the depths of the earth and new birth will once again fill creation with energy and transformation. Until then, we can enjoy the tranquility of the winter season.
Prayer: God of creation, help me to discover the treasures of each season. May I carry the peace of winter into the birth of spring. Amen.
