In our world today, many do not feel protected, and the most vulnerable of society often feel abandoned. Even through the efforts of law enforcement, neighborhood watch programs, and advocate groups, there is still crime, child and elder abuse, hunger, homelessness, and various other disastrous social conditions that leave us overwhelmed and plagued with confusion and hopelessness. It becomes increasingly more difficult to discern what we can do to help.
For believers, God is still alive and active in the world today. Faith propels us to believe even when we have not seen God. We trust that he will walk with us through the valleys of our lives giving us courage, strength, and encouragement. In addition, we can ask God to protect us from unhealthy thinking and give us clarity about our situations. We can also ask God to protect us from destructive actions, harsh words, and unkind behavior to those around us.
In a world that screams for holiness, our best solution is to strengthen our relationship with God through study, prayer, and meditation. God calls each of us to a purpose or mission. As we enter into oneness with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we realize that God meets us wherever we are, even in our doubt or confusion, to love us, transform us, and protect us.
Prayer for the Week
Almighty and holy God, the world today is filled with conflict and discord that causes stress and worry. Protect me from the war of wills and opinions. Give me clarity of thought and right action demonstrated by my love for those around me. Set me on the right path to be obedient to your will and purpose for my life, and use me to bring peace and goodwill to those in my family and community. Strengthen me to go where you lead me and accomplish my mission so that your presence and glory will be revealed. I humbly ask these things in your most holy name. Amen.
