You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. Acts 10:36

When Jesus began his ministry, he announced that the kingdom of God had come near (Mark 1:15). If we think about the kingdom of God, we can imagine that it is peaceful—no wars, or hunger, or homelessness. Those things that make the world a place of unrest come from our own arrogance, pride, and greed.

If we turn our thoughts to Jesus and study his life, we learn that his ultimate goal was peace—peace in our hearts, peace with one another, and ultimately peace within our communities and the world. All we have to do is follow the one who came to lead us.

Prayer:  God of grace and glory, empower me to put away my arrogance, pride, and greed and follow Jesus so that I can help make this world a peaceful place. Amen.
