“I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night. 1 Samuel 15:11
Grief is a powerful emotion. It can take us from the height of happiness into the pit of agony and despair. When we lose someone, or our dreams are shattered, or things don’t go as we planned, grief can take over and rule our hearts.
For many, resolution only comes after days and nights of wailing and railing at God and asking the infamous question “why” thousands of times. However, God is faithful and merciful. He will listen to our moaning, he will feel our tears, and he will wait until we are exhausted. Then, we will feel his presence and experience his grace. We will realize that he was with us all along and our darkness will begin to subside.
Prayer: Most mighty God, I praise you even in the times of darkness and struggle. You let me drown in my tears and cry out in pain. But you are never far away. You are in the darkness waiting to take me into the light. I am grateful for your undying love and mercy. Amen.
