Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.  Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2

The season of Lent begins this Wednesday, March 1 and is a forty-day period in the Christian calendar where we as believers take a journey to the cross. Forty is a significant number in the Bible and is usually tied to a time of testing or trial followed by a time of renewal or transformation.

Perhaps this Lenten season can be a forty-day period of reflection and prayer that will affect change in our lives. Maybe we will open our minds and hearts to the resurrecting power of God that can move us out of the struggles of our lives into peace and harmony.

Prayer:  Almighty God, you are a God of power and transformation. I lay before you the struggles and chaos of my life. I know that you will resurrect me from my darkness into your light of peace and love. Amen.
