Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. 1 Chronicles 4:10     

Right in the middle of the listing of the clans of Judah, the writer of Chronicles finds it necessary to give us information concerning Jabez. And this information only includes two verses, nine and ten.

It is significant to notice that although not much information is given about Jabez, God heard his prayer and granted his request. An ordinary man prays. God hears his prayer and answers.
