“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.” Psalm 22:1-2
How many times have we asked, “God where are you?” Or, “God, are you listening?” Even Jesus, as he hung on the cross, felt abandoned by the Father. The psalmist knew too well the feeling of being forgotten by God. He was surrounded by those who wanted to kill him and wondered why God had not delivered him.
Life is full of situations that tend to make us feel that God is nowhere in sight. But God is always moving in us, around us, and through us. He is always protecting us, providing for us, and leading us to a safer place. But not in our time, in his.
Prayer: God of life and light, empower me to be more aware of your presence even in my darkest hours. Amen.
