Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.  Psalm 51:10-12

The season of Lent affords us the opportunity to slow down. It gives us the time to regroup and rethink the priorities of our lives. During this period, we can come into a deeper relationship with God.

As we come to know and better understand God’s grace, we develop a deeper relationship filled with trust. As a result, we can humbly and genuinely admit our shortcomings without fear and know with assurance that God forgives us. Through the blood of Christ, we are made clean and brought into the light of God’s mercy and grace. From the messiness of our lives, God creates and transforms so that we can experience the newness of a God-filled life.

Prayer:  Almighty and gracious God, you and only you can create in me a pure heart. It is through my humble confession to you of my shortcomings that I am given a renewal of spirit and a life full of your mercy and grace. I am grateful for your unfailing love for me. Amen.
