For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you. Job 5:23

It is a cold, dreary day in North Central Texas with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees. The ground is covered in a sheet of ice with more wintry weather expected today.

Looking out the window, I see three coyotes walking across the pasture that appear to be scavenging for food on this frigid winter day. Not being a fan of coyotes, I am surprised that this scene offers a peaceful feeling. The tan coloring of their bodies against the white snow-like covering on the ground presents a picture to be envied by every naturalist photographer.

Perhaps, peace depends on our perspective and is found in the moments that we least expect. Maybe, the beginning of a peaceful world begins with being at peace with nature.

Prayer: Holy God, you have created this wonderfully unique world in which we live. Help us to be mindful of all that you have created so that we can create a more peaceful environment. Amen.
