He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.  Matthew 28:6

Easter Sunday has come and gone for this year. But the power of Easter remains with us throughout the year. What does Easter represent and why does it hold so much power in the life of a believer?

Easter represents the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is central to the whole of Christianity.  When Jesus was crucified, he took all the burdens of the world, all our sins and shortcomings, and all the despair and anguish of our lives to the depths of darkness and returned in the fullness of glory. In that eternal moment of redemption, he disarmed everything of this world that claims authority over humanity. He gave us the chance for new life. He gave us the chance to begin again. He gave us hope.

Prayer:  Holy God, thank you for the gift of Easter. May your resurrecting power continue to transform my life. Amen.
